Winners and other participants of King Abdul Aziz International Contest for memorization and recitation of the Noble Qur'an would be given awards to the tune of SR888,000. The contest closes here Sunday evening under the patronage of King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Sheikh Saleh Bin Abdul Aziz Aal Al-Sheikh, Minister of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Guidance, said here Saturday. Awards and prizes will be distributed for each of the five sections of the competition. “The first winner in the first section which is memorizing the Qur'an will take SR75,000, the second winner obtains SR72,000 and the third takes SR69,000. The fourth and fifth winners will get SR66,000 and SR63,000 respectively,” he added. The winners in the second section will obtain about SR245,000. The prize money will be distributed among five competitors, he said. Winners in the third and fourth sections will also get financial prizes. Saud Bin Abdullah, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance, confirmed on the importance of such competitions. – SG “It is the first international competition in which various countries, bodies, and Islamic societies are participating annually. Such competitions will strengthen relations among Islamic countries,” he said.
