Prince Muhammad Bin Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz, Emir of the Eastern Province, ordered on Saturday the release of all detained youths in connection with vandalism in Al-Khobar on the eve of the National Day on Sept. 23. The decision was mainly made to allow them to join their schools after they had regretted their acts. Prince Muhammad's directives include that all the detainees should bear the cost for all incurred damages. A committee formed by the emirate has been assigned to continue studying their cases, however. Maj. Gen. Saad Al-Thubaiti, Chief of Eastern Province Police, said the detainees will be immediately released. About 80 youths are now in prison for acts of vandalism in Al-Khobar where several shops were targeted on the National Day. Some of the youths were lashed by the whip in the past few days.
