Delhi records 3rd win
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 01 - 05 - 2008

Four wickets in four overs for 29 runs by Australian veteran Glenn McGrath and 19 runs in four overs with a wicket by New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori virtually choked a charging Bangalore Royal Challengers and Delhi Daredevils won the match by 10 runs at the Feroz Shah Kotla grounds here Wednesday.
Put into bat Delhi Daredevils made a solid 191-5 on the strength of 86 in 54 balls by Gautam Gambhir and a strokeful 50 in 33 balls by Shikhar Dhawan. Skipper Virender Sehwag was run out for 24. J. Kallis (2), Zaheer and D.Steyn were the wicket-takers.
Bangalore found the going touch as McGrath struck with the fifth ball of the first over by taking new opener P. Kumar. And once McGrath claimed big-hitting New Zealander Taylor for 29 it was left to the experienced captain Rahul Dravid and Kallis to steady the boat. But a brilliant Vettori kept them under control.
It was the fourth defeat in five matches for Bangalore Royal Challengers which is still struggling to find the right combination. However, Delhi is sitting pretty with three wins in four matches.
Scores: Delhi Daredevils 191-5 (G.Gambhir 86, S.Dhawan 50, Kallis 2-39). Bangalore Royal Challengers 181-5 (J.Kallis 54, R.Dravid 38, M.Boucher 31*, G.McGrath 4-29).
Thursday's matches: Deccan Chargers vs Kings XI Punjab, Rajasthan Royals vs Kolkata Knight Riders.
