Jorge Lorenzo will start the Portuguese Grand Prix from pole position after edging Moto GP championship leader Valentino Rossi of Italy in qualifying. The Spaniard set a fastest lap time of 1 minute, 36.214 seconds around the Estoril circuit Saturday to boost his chances of catching his Yamaha teammate. Rossi, who leads Lorenzo by 30 points, finished just over two-tenths of a second back. Lorenzo won last year's race.
