Vaughn Taylor took advantage of an early tee time to post his second successive round of five-under-par 67 and grab a one-stroke lead Friday after two rounds of the Turning Stone Championship in Verona, New York. Taylor's 10-under-par total of 134 on the rain-softened Atunyote course put him one clear of fellow Americans Matt Kuchar, Nicholas Thompson and overnight co-leader Leif Olson. Thompson fired a 67, Kuchar registered 68 and rookie Olson shot 69 on another chilly day in upstate New York that saw better scoring conditions due to less wind and rain. Another stroke back at eight-under 136 were Sweden's Fredrik Jacobson (67) and Americans Bo Van Pelt and Scott Piercy, who both shot 66. Van Pelt needed only 10 putts in a blistering back nine in which he birdied six holes in a row from the 11th. Tim Petrovic carded a 71 to join three others on 137. A total of 75 players made the cut at one-under-par 143. Adam Scott shot 70 for 138 and was one of four Australians among 10 players tied on that number. John Senden, Aaron Baddeley and Rod Pampling were also six-under at the tournament's midway point. Ochoa, Thompson in front In Alabama, world No. 1 Lorena Ochoa and 14-year-old US teen were among five co-leaders after Friday's second round of the $1.3m LPGA Navistar Classic. Mexico's Ochoa fired a four-under par 68 and Thompson fired a 69 to stand on 10-under 134 after 36 holes. Joining them atop the leaderboard were Britain's Laura Davies, who fired a 65 Friday; Taiwan's Yani Tseng, who matched a tournament record by firing a 63 in the second round, and Italy's Giulia Sergas, who fired a 65 Friday. Sweden's Sophie Gustafson fired a 65 to stand alone in second, one stroke back of the lead pack. Among those two off the pace are Britain's Janice Moodie and US prodigy Michelle Wie, still seeking her first major stroke
