Many hospitals in the Makkah region, including King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Taif, have allegedly refused to treat an infant suffering from kidney failure, the child's father said. “The hospitals said that Ziyad's health was deteriorating, but that they were unable to treat him,” said Saleh Al-Nifaie, the infant's father. The King Abdulaziz University Hospital in Jeddah has also refused to receive the case, the father said, adding that he hoped that the Armed Forces Hospital in Jeddah would be able to treat his son. The King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Taif has contacted other hospitals in the region asking them to treat Ziyad, but they have all declined, said Saeed Al-Zahrani, spokesman of Taif health department. “If the specialist hospital cannot treat the boy, the other hospitals just assumed they also would not be able to do so,” he added. The father is still waiting to hear from other hospitals.
