Patrick Ekeng was sent off moments before the interval for a second yellow card. Germany finished with seven points and South Korea also qualified with four points after beating United States 3-0. South Korea, meanwhile, advanced to the knockout stage at the expense of the US after beating the Americans 3-0 after their final group game. The fast-paced South Koreans – coached by former LA Galaxy player Hong Myung-bo – dominated possession and had the most chances.
