A delegation of specialists in ports operation representing 15 British companies will attend a seminar here sponsored by the UK government from Oct. 10 to 13. The seminar will showcase the UK's experience in undertaking ports projects and associated services around the world. The mission, being led by David Howell, director of British Expertise, which is organizing the visit of the UK experts to the Kingdom, will later travel to Dammam. British Expertise is a leading UK private sector organization for British companies offering professional services internationally on behalf of UK Trade & Investment, which is the government body responsible for promoting exports from and inward investment into the United Kingdom. The main aim of the mission team is to identify the areas in which assistance is required for the continued development of ports in Saudi Arabia and to match the requirements with the significant experience of British companies involved in all areas of the construction, management and operation of ports. “There is a long history of successful collaboration between the UK and Saudi Arabia. The UK Ports sector recognises that there are many opportunities for partnership and we are keen to work closely with the government agencies and local companies in Saudi Arabia to identify and implement solutions to improve the contribution that ports make to the country's “future prosperity,” said Howell. – SG Companies taking part in the mission cover a wide range of skills including feasibility, planning and engineering services, software development and logistics advice, port security, specialist education and training services, and port management. UK Trade & Investment in London will be represented by Jason Castelino, Deputy Head Ports who is responsible for coordinating the UK Government's work in promoting the expertise and experience held in Great Britain to overseas governments and ports.
