Juventus misses chance to return to top
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 29 - 09 - 2009

An Adailton equalizer in injury time earned Bologna a 1-1 draw with Juventus and denied the Turin club any chance of returning to the top of the Serie A Sunday.
David Trezeguet gave Juventus the lead in the 25th minute after being set up by Diego, but the French striker missed further chances as the match continued.
The result means Sampdoria sits top with 15 points, Juventus is second with 14, while Inter Milan and Fiorentina each have 13 points.
AS Roma needed an injury-time equalizer from Daniele De Rossi to earn a 1-1 draw away to Catania.
Takayuki Morimoto scored in the 22nd minute and just when it seemed that the home side would be taking all three points, De Rossi prodded the ball home with his knee following a goalmouth scramble.
In the late match AC Milan was unable to turn around its recent mixed form and drew 0-0 with Bari at San Siro.
Also Sunday it was: Chievo Verona 1, Atalanta 1; Lazio 1, Palermo 1; Napoli 2, Siena 1; Parma 0, Cagliari 2; and Udinese 2, Genoa 0.
Villarreal loses to Deportivo
Villarreal lost 1-0 at Deportivo La Coruna Sunday to stay without a win in the Spanish league after five games – it's worst ever start to a season in the top-flight.
Deportivo midfielder Juca scored what turned out to be the winner in the eighth-minute from a freekick. The result leaves Villarreal in 19th place, with just two points from its opening five games.
Villarreal, which has finished in the top five in the past three seasons, has made a calamitous start that has piled pressure on coach Ernesto Valverde. Valverde took charge after Manuel Pellegrini left to join Real Madrid in the offseason.
Also, Mallorca rose to fourth place by beating Valladolid 3-0.
Last-place Xerez gained its first point with a 0-0 draw at Espanyol although the southern team has still not scored in any of its five games in its first ever season in the top tier.
Also, it was: Zaragoza 3, Getafe 0; Osasuna 1, Sporting Gijon 0; and Almeria 2, Racing Santander 2.
Sunderland routs Wolves
Sunderland continued its strong start to the Premier League season with an all-action 5-2 home win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Stadium of Light Sunday.
The match contained goals of all sorts as the hosts led 2-0, were pegged back to 2-2, and then drew clear again to move to 12 points.
Sunderland, who narrowly escaped relegation last season, moved level with Aston Villa, Manchester City and Arsenal on 12 points. Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have 15. Chelsea has 18 as does Manchester United.
