To observe the World Tourism Day, the Kingdom represented by Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) will be participating in the event initiated by the United Nations' World Tourism Organization on Dec. 27. The event is entitled “Celebrate Diversity”. Prince Sultan Bin Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, President of the SCTA, said the government considers tourism sector as an integrated economic and development project that transcends mere events or festivals. In this connection he cited the Cabinet approval on a number of decisions regarding continuation of the state's support to the SCTA and also the national tourism sector, establishing a system of guidelines that emphasize the state's interest, including the development of national tourism keeping pace with the growth and increasing demand. He underlined the importance of the current phase of SCTA after the issuance of the new regulations last year, which added new and more responsibilities and executive functions on antiquities and museums, tourism and investment, tourist accommodation, tour operators, travel agencies, tourist guides, and other various tourist activities.
