The landlord of a public school building closed it down to the staff in Raniah, Taif, Saturday for an expired contract that the Ministry of Education failed to renew on time. The Taif Education Department did not renew the contract because they were expecting to receive a new government building for the school before the start of the new academic year, an official at the education department said. The contractor, however, failed to meet the deadline in early September, the official added. The Imam Turmithi School teachers found the building of their institution locked when they reported on the first day of back-to-school on Saturday and the owner asked them to leave the premises. The landlord apologized to the teachers showing them a letter from their education department in which he was notified that the rental contract would not be renewed. The contract expired last June.
