Jolie is on a day-long visit to the camp to highlight the plight of refugees from Somalia and to appeal for solutions for overcrowding at the refugee camp. Opened in 1991, the camps in Dadaab were designed to accommodate 90,000 individuals, but the population is now 285,000 and growing due to arrivals of up to 7,000 a month.
