Saudi Aramco, Saudi Arabia's national petroleum enterprise, is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. Among the many celebrations lined up to mark its diamond jubilee, Aramco is focusing on applauding its employees — or what it aptly calls Human Energy. Events, exhibits and programs will be organized to highlight its achievements and those of its 52,000 employees, representing 65 nationalities. On May 21, employee celebrations will be held at Saudi Aramco facilities across the Kingdom, as the company marks the 75 years since the signing on May 29, 1933 of the concession agreement that allowed an American company, Socal, to begin exploring for oil in Saudi Arabia. The theme of the celebrations will be “Energy for Generations,” and will focus on the human side of the company, as well as its commitment to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and global prosperity. In a statement on Aramco's website, especially designed for its diamond jubilee celebrations, www.saudiaramco75.com, president and CEO Abdallah S. Jum'ah said, “World-class organizations are successful because they have been able to realize a bold vision.” He also noted that Saudi Aramco is particularly fortunate in that its vision remains fresh, thanks to the support of the Kingdom's leaders throughout the company's history. He did not forget to mention the employees — the backbone of any organization. “No company can be successful, however, without the hard work and dedication of employees at all levels and in a variety of different disciplines, and in our case, the efforts of people of many nationalities. Our company's success over the past 75 years is truly cause for celebration,” he said. The day of celebrations will kick off with an inaugural event in Dhahran, where Jum'ah will deliver a speech that will be video-streamed live on the company's Intranet for employees across the company. Later that morning, celebrations will take place at 11 sites across the Kingdom, each with a member of corporate or executive management delivering a keynote speech. At each of the sites, a film will be shown, and there will be a display of photographs showcasing the company's rich history. Many commemorative items are also planned during the year. They include Mobile exhibits – one trailer with a walk-through exhibit about Saudi Aramco's history, operations and contributions to the Kingdom's progress and well-being. The other is a trailer with six motor-vehicle driving simulators to educate the public about safe-driving practices. The trailers will visit communities Kingdom-wide. Aramco has also coordinated with the Saudi postal authority to issue commemorative stamps designed to mark the 75th Anniversary. Children's books are being published which will contain information about the company, the Kingdom and the oil industry and will highlight the role of science, technology and innovation in the company. Both books are being produced in Arabic and English. The company has a comprehensive branding design for the entire campaign, and the “75” marquee and vibrant color schemes have been placed on company planes, cars, buses, helicopters, stationary, corporate gifts, clothing and publications. The anniversary will also be observed in special editions of company publications, including Saudi Aramco World, Dimensions, Saudi Aramco Journal of Technology and Al-Qafilah magazines, and the Arabian Sun and Al-Qafilah weekly newspapers. __
