Tiger Woods rolled in a 12-foot eagle putt on the ninth to regain a one-shot lead midway through third round play at the BMW Championship Saturday. Woods, who shared a one shot overnight lead with fellow American Mark Wilson, stumbled out of the gate opening his round with a bogey for the second consecutive day. But the world number one responded with birdies at the third, six and eighth to go along with his eagle to reach the turn at 11-under and on course for a fifth title at Cog Hill. Australian PGA Tour rookie Marc Leisham is hot on Woods's heels sitting just one back with the help of four consecutive birdies from the third to get to 10-under with eight to play. Americans David Toms and Matt Kuchar and Australian John Senden are all three off the pace. Hanson leads by 1 shot Peter Hanson opened up a one-shot lead after three rounds of the Mercedes-Benz Championship Saturday as he looked to keep the title in Swedish hands following Robert Karlsson's triumph in 2008. Hanson, 31, is 11-under for the tournament after a round of 67 and leads England's Simon Dyson, winner of the Dutch Open three weeks ago, Denmark's Soren Hansen and South Africa's James Kingston by one shot. Overnight leaders, England's Chris Wood and Australian Scott Strange, fell back after shooting disappointing rounds of 73 and 74 respectively. Hanson, who birdied the first, fourth, seventh, ninth and 14th holes, said: “When I stood on the first tee here this week I decided I wanted to get into contention again.” World number six Henrik Stenson, of Sweden, and England's Anthony Wall finished on nine under, one ahead of Wood who bogeyed the last to finish eight under. Dyson birdied the 13th, 14th and eagled the 15th. Gal soars to lead In Arkansas, Germany's Sandra Gal eagled the final hole Friday to claim a one-shot lead after the first round of the 1.8 million-dollar LPGA event at Pinnacle Country Club. Gal fired a seven-under par 64 to put herself in the driver's seat in the 54-hole event. Her 15-foot uphill putt at the final hole saw her leap over South Korean Song-Hee Kim and into the lead. Gal had about 190 yards to the front of the green at 18, and hit a four-iron in. Kim had sole possession of second place on 65, while Americans Brittany Lang, Pat Hurst and Angela Stanford shared third, a further shot back. Cristie Kerr carded a 69, as did Michelle Wie. Defending champion Seon Hwa Lee of South Korea settled for a 74 on the recently renovated course. McIlroy stamps his class Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy stamped his class on the Kolon-Hana Bank Korea Open Saturday by firing a four-under-par 67 to take a share of the third round lead with former winner Kim Dae-sub. McIlroy made five birdies in a row starting from the second hole. The 20-year-old, world ranked 24, holds joint top spot with a three-round aggregate of seven-under-par 206, putting him in position to win what is the second tournament of the year on the OneAsia Tour. Kim came in with a 69. Compatriot and defending champion Bae Sang-Moon is one shot behind after returning a 65 at Woo Jeung Hills Golf Club.
