Fraud Department at the Jeddah Mayoralty seized a big stock of 1,072 boxes of expired sweets with over 19,000 chocolate pieces in a south Jeddah warehouse late Wednesday. The goodies were meant to be sold during Eid. At the site, 12 Asian expatriates were arrested packing the chocolates and changing the expiry date. The sweets were imported from Turkey in early 2008. A worker said one of his accomplices managed to get the big quantity of expired sweets from a superstore that was getting rid of it. The owner of the warehouse was arrested. Bashir Abu Najom, of the Jeddah Mayoralty, has encouraged the public to contact toll-free number 940 in case of suspected cases of commercial fraud.
