The Liberal Party (LP) has chosen Sen. Manuel Roxas II as Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III's running mate in next year's elections, the party's chairman said Thursday, and they are confident Roxas will accept the offer. “It will be a Noynoy-Mar tandem for next year's elections. That will no longer change,” said former Senate President Franklin Drilon and Liberal Party chairman, in an interview on GMA's Unang Hirit. GMANews.TV tried to reach Roxas for comment, but the senator was not answering his mobile phone. Wednesday, Aquino declared his intent to run for presidency and said he offered Roxas the vice presidential slot. Aquino, however, said Roxas was still undecided on the matter. In Thursday's television interview, Drilon quoted Roxas as saying that he did not want to make an announcement yet because he wanted Wednesday to be Aquino's day alone. “Let's give this day to Senator Noy,” Drilon quoted Roxas as saying. Last week, Roxas announced that he was giving up his presidential ambitions to give way to Aquino.
