The “Embassy on Wheels”, the monthly passport renewal and consular services for Filipinos in the Eastern Province, will resume on Sept. 17-18, the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh announced. The Embassy earlier advised Filipinos in Eastern Province that the regular consular services through the “Embassy on Wheels” will be suspended due to lack of funds. The announced suspension had drawn strong criticism from the Filipino community in the region. The Embassy said in its press statement that the resumption of full consular outreach services in Al-Khobar, Eastern Province, was given the green light by the Department of Foreign Affairs in Manila after additional funding was approved. Ambassador Antonio P. Villamor strongly recommended the resumption of the “Embassy on Wheels”. The renewal of passports in Al-Khobar at the International Philippine School in Al-Khobar (IPSA) will follow the same schedule, which is 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, Sept. 17, and 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon on Friday, Sept. 18. The Filipinos who wish to claim their new Machine Readable Passport (MRP) can verify whether their passport are now ready for release by visiting the Embassy website www.philembassy-riyadh.org. Those who will claim their new MRP must present their old passport for cancellation and the receipt of payment. Claimants who cannot personally come must provide written authorization to their representatives.
