In a statement, the committee defending the teachers expressed hope that the Appeals Court would decide in the matter soon. According to the statement, Ahmad Bin Jam'an Al-Malki, the teachers' lawyer, presented a petition to Prince Faisal Bin Abdullah Bin Muhammad Al-Saud, Minister of Education, to grant them the job grade they deserve commensurate with their years of service and to pay them the financial differences for the years they were appointed at levels lower than what they actually deserved according to the regulations. The petition said the anomaly in their status has caused the teachers irreparable moral and psychological harm. The teachers' lawyer demanded that the issue of job grades and financial differences be referred for royal consideration.
