Anil Singh, a senior Indian accountant who works in Riyadh, never imagined that he would attend a reunion with his school friends and teachers after a period of 25 years. He thought only a ‘miracle' could bring about such a moment. However, on his recent visit to India, two of his former classmates Rajat Babu and Leena Sach Dev from the 1984-batch of the IDUBS English High School, Bandupe, Mumbai, arranged for a reunion with the school's alumni and its teachers. They visited the school and gathered the addresses of students of the 1984 batch, many of whom still live in Maharashtra. Here's an account of the get-together in Singh's words: The reunion was held at our school. All the teachers who taught us in class 10 arrived energetic and in good health, with the students, numbering 40, all middle-aged now, dressed quite fashionably. We couldn't believe that a reunion was actually taking place. Nostalgia was clearly in the air, and a happy and emotional atmosphere was created. Teachers were delighted to see that their students had been so successful and the students thanked their teachers for inducing discipline in them and for educating them. We started by introducing ourselves, and excitedly clicked photos with each other. The teachers, who got quite emotional, thanked the students for honoring and remembering them. They said they were proud that their services had been fruitful. Later in the day, students and teachers played indoor games together. Former students also shared their career experiences, and the concomitant ups and downs. Everyone seemed to cherish the few moments they had together. The day ended as we bid an emotional farewell to each other, wishing each other success in all our future endeavors.
