The National Society for Human Rights (NSHR) has written to five government departments urging them to open branches in different Eastern Province cities and governorates. Dr. Mufleh Al-Qahtani, chairman of the NSHR, said the departments include the Directorate General of Civil Defense, Civil Status Department, Red Crescent, Passports Department and Ministry of Health. The last named has also been urged to open new hospitals, Al-Qahtani said. He said the society has approached these departments after receiving several requests from citizens and expatriates in this regard. For this reason, the society took the initiative to correspond with these departments to expedite the opening of their branches so as to provide the needed services to the citizens and expatriates. Al-Qahtani said the NSHR is working with the departments concerned to achieve this as soon as possible.
