eight new air ambulances will be added to the Red Crescent's fleet soon, Prince Faisal Bin Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, President of Saudi Red Crescent, has said. He also announced the arrival of one new air ambulance which would join the service upon completion of the experimental period. Prince Faisal said the Saudi Red Crescent has started dealing with three public hospitals and is expected to expand its service further with the arrival of the new batch of three ambulance planes in the next three months. The new arrival would bring the total number of air ambulances to six of which three each would be stationed in Riyadh and Jeddah. Prince Faisal said inducting air ambulances is a new phenomenon for the Saudi Red Crescent. Their task, he said, is different from that of the Civil Defense since Red Crescent's planes have the capability to land on streets and roads inside the cities. Owing to this peculiarity, the Red Crescent is in close coordination with the Roads Security, he said. Prince Faisal said the Saudi Red Crescent has made big strides in its infrastructure that include operation rooms and an integrated telecommunications network.
