The Penalties Committee in Madina Civil Defense has imposed a fine of SR68,000 on a gas stations company for negligence in implementing the safety conditions pertaining to the activity. Col. Mansour Bettaihan Al-Jihani, Civil Defense spokesman, said the violations include lack of a properly functioning fire extinguishing system, lack of safety requirements, using gas cylinders for cooking at the gas stations, the workers' accommodation being located within the precincts of the gas station, practicing the activity without obtaining a permit confirming fulfillment of the safety conditions, besides a number of other violations related to the safety of the workers and the environs. He said all the violations were registered in the company's safety record at the Civil Defense so as to monitor and follow them up and ensure rectification.
