A spokesman for Eastern Province Police has said that the death of an Asian man last Wednesday while being held by the Deportation Department in Dammam was “natural”, citing a hospital report as saying that the death was due to “stoppage of blood circulation and the heart”. Spokesman Yousef Al-Qahtani said the Dammam Central Hospital report disproved claims by the deceased man's sponsor that he died as a result of a severe beating while at the deportation facility. The case is currently being looked into by The Commission for Investigation and Prosecution, Al-Qhtani added. The man's sponsor, Saedd Al-Wada'ani, said he had made an official complaint with police in east Dammam over the death. “I informed the authorities of his disappearance, and they located him and held him at the center ahead of deporting him,” Al-Wada'ani told Okaz newspaper. “When I went to see him he was in really bad condition and I asked them to let me take him to hospital, but they wouldn't let me.” Al-Wada'ani now asks for those who refused him permission to take the man to hospital to be punished.
