The International Labor Organization (ILO) recently organized a training program on the role and functions of labor committees in the Kingdom. The training program, at the International Training Center of the ILO in Turin, Italy, was part of the cooperation between the Ministry of Labor in the Kingdom and ILO in the field of technical support and training through the management of labor activities in ILO. The program in which Okaz Organization for Press and Publication participated included several workshops in the field of specialization of the training course. This was with the aim of boosting awareness about labor culture in the field of collective negotiation and social dialogue. Those in charge of labor committees in many establishments in the Kingdom and representatives of the Ministry of Labor participated in the program. The participants lauded the role being carried out by ILO as a United Nations specialist agency in the interests of the laborers. The participants in the program expressed their thanks to Dan Kuniya, Director of the Labor Activities Office in ILO (ACTRAV) besides instructors, trainers and administrators in the training program including Dr. Ahmed Khalaf, Waleed Hamdan, Lock Dimariyah, Manal Al-Gazzi and Dhia Bin Sa'eed. The officials in the ILO program lauded the Kingdom's decision to form labor committees as a step toward qualitative change and distinctive work so as to keep pace with changes in other fields. The program was attended by Yahya Bin Nasser Al-Yahya, Director General of the International Organizations Administration in the Ministry of Labor, Fahd Abdullah Al-Mubarak, Director of Labor Committees Administration in the ministry, Ahmad Sulaiman Al-Battah, Chairman of the Labor Committee at Okaz Organization for Press and Publication and Nidhal Muhammad Rasheed Radhwan from Saudi Telecom Company in Jeddah, among others.
