A women's group to promote awareness of the dangers of swimming in sea has been set up in the Eastern Province. The group will tackle the rising numbers of women and girls drowning at sea during the summer vacations. During the last nine months, sea patrols have rescued 310 persons from coastal waters. About 70 people lost their lives, and incidents have been mainly attributed by authorities to parents' lack of attention to children and persons swimming in dangerous and prohibited zones.
