The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (Hai'a) arrested an unmarried couple as well as numerous illegal immigrants in raids conducted over Saturday and Sunday on furnished apartments in Al-Tawal. The young man was arrested with a non-Saudi woman for khulwa – being in the unsupervised company of an unrelated member of the opposite sex, while several Yemeni qat dealers were among the detained, as were large numbers of persons carrying no identity documents. An “istiraha” resthouse was also closed during the Hai'a's rounds. A Hai'a official said the body would continue its work to “fight bad activities in the region”.
