the-trainer program in English language was held last week at Najran College of Technology in cooperation with the British Council in Saudi Arabia. The week-long intensive teach-the-trainer program was aimed at developing the English language skills of college lecturers. A two-member team comprising Michael Manser and Jon Gore, English language experts specialized in current issues of English Language Teaching (ELT) methodology and approaches, conducted the program with a group of English lecturers at Najran College. “The objective of the program was to develop the trainers' training skills enabling them to train other teachers at their respective colleges and regions,” according to a press statement issued by the British Council. The intensive English language training helped lecturers work further with the teacher-training process and tackle some of the topical issues and challenges faced by English language teachers in the Kingdom. “This was an excellent working team focusing on real educational challenges leading to useful future development,” said Gore, who is also the British Council Director, Central Province and Deputy Director Saudi Arabia. Later the lecturers were allowed to lead sessions on their own, choosing their own topics.
