The Directorate of Health in Hafr Al-Batin is looking into a case filed by a citizen accusing a pharmacist of selling him expired baby powder milk that caused the death of his baby son. The father filed the lawsuit against the pharmacist in the Shariah court in Hafr Al-Batin, claiming that his child died on consuming the expired milk. He alleged that he bought four cans of baby powder milk from the pharmacy in Hafr Al-Baten sometime last month and when the baby was fed the milk he immediately developed some complications. The infant was rushed to the public hospital where an emergency doctor examined him. The child died three hours later. The father claimed that later on finding that the milk was more than nine months past its shelf life, he reported the matter to the health directorate. The directorate team searched the pharmacy and confiscated other cans of milk carrying the same expiry date. Fakhari Al-Metteri, the directorate's spokesman, said three committees have been formed to investigate. __
