The Bangladeshi Consulate in Jeddah and the Bangladeshi expatriate community jointly held a blood donation camp in the consulate premises recently. Inaugurating the camp, Consul General Golam Sarwar said: “As part of a goodwill gesture of the Bangladeshi community for the brotherly people of Saudi Arabia, this camp also marks the 34th death anniversary of Bangladesh's Father of the Nation, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.” He said the ‘humanitarian gesture' of the community will help enhance their image in the Kingdom. Dr. Sagir, blood bank coordinator at the King Abdulaziz Hospital & Oncology Center, which helped to collect the blood, described the event as the Bangladeshi community's ‘humble step towards humanity'. “We at the blood bank faculty of King Abdulaziz Hospital & Oncology Center are very thankful to the citizens of Bangladesh who have proved their honor by donating blood to the brotherhood of Saudi Arabia,” he said. Mahmud Ul Hussain Shamim, one of the organizers of the camp, thanked Saudi authorities for their help in organizing the event and hoped that they are able to organize similar events every year in different cities of the Kingdom.
