Kelly Johnson hit a tiebreaking, two-run homer to lead the Atlanta Braves to a 6-3 win over the struggling New York Mets in the National League on Friday. Johnson had four RBIs for the Braves, who sent the Mets to their fifth loss in six games following a five-game winning streak. The Mets got their runs when Atlanta starting pitcher Jair Jurrjens walked three consecutive batters with the bases loaded in the third. Jurrjens recovered from that wild spell, not allowing any further Mets to reach base, and retiring his final 10 batters. Atlanta manager Bobby Cox was ejected for the 136th time, extending his major league record. Dodgers 8, Rockies 7, 13 innings: In Los Angeles, Russell Martin went 4-for-4 and drove in the winning run with a sacrifice fly as Los Angeles beat Colorado to snap a seven-game losing streak. The game took 4 hours, 38 minutes, just eight days after the Rockies had won a 22-inning game at San Diego that took more than 6 hours. The Rockies lost for the fifth time in six games. Phillies 6, Pirates 5: In Pittsburgh, Chris Coste had three hits and three RBIs as Philadelphia beat Pittsburgh. The Phillies picked up their fifth win in six games as the bullpen pitched more than five innings of effective relief. Philadelphia's past three wins came through late-inning rallies, but this time it took a six-run lead and hung on. Giants 3, Reds 1: In San Francisco, Jonathan Sanchez pitched into the ninth and matched his career high with 10 strikeouts as San Francisco beat Cincinatti. Sanchez outdueled Reds ace Aaron Harang and kept Ken Griffey Jr. on 597 career home runs. He retired 16 straight during one stretch and won successive starts after going winless in his first three outings of 2008. Diamondbacks 5, Padres 1: In San Diego, Randy Johnson got his first victory since having back surgery in August as Arizona downed San Diego. The veteran pitcher held the Padres to one run while striking out seven in six innings. The Padres lost for the ninth time in 10 games. The NL West-leading Diamondbacks scored five runs in the third inning. Astros 3, Cardinals 2: In St. Louis, Carlos Lee's homer capped a three-run rally in the ninth, helping Houston beat St. Louis and win its sixth straight. Lee hammered a first-pitch fastball well over the left-field wall, a drive estimated at 396 feet, for his fifth homer of the season. Cardinals reliever Jason Isringhausen has taken the loss in two of his past three outings. The Cardinals had a runner on third with one out in the bottom of the ninth but could not force the tying run. Nationals 5, Cubs 3: In Washington, Wil Nieves' first major league homer, a two-run shot in the ninth inning, gave Washington the win over Chicago. Chicago, the NL Central leader, had won six of its previous seven. Marlins 3, Brewers 0, 10 innings: In Milwaukee, after nine scoreless innings, Florida scrambled to beat Milwaukee.
