35,000 uprooted in Yemen – UNHCR

The UN refugee agency said Friday an estimated 35,000 people have been driven from their homes in northern Yemen by the latest fighting between government forces and rebels. The people fled fighting around Saada city during the past two weeks, said Andrej Mahecic, a spokesman for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR. The roads to Saada province are blocked and aid agencies are unable to reach the area by airplane, he said.
