Kurtis in every lengths, designs and silhouettes are all over the place. The latest re-fashioning of the humble kurti comes with Deepika Padukone's contemporary look in the movie “Love Aaj Kal”, in which she is styled by Vogue magazine stylist Anaita Shroff in effortless short, flared kurtis teamed with churidaars or a pair of tights. And fashion pundits are already predicting a good following for this sartorial combination. The ethnic yet chic look has apparently stirred up popular support for it among young girls. “Youngsters love the look because it's so comfortable and real, unlike the glamorous dresses that are usually displayed in films,” Padukone was reported as saying recently at a bookstore in India when she was mobbed by young girls asking her where they could get the clothes that she wore in the film. These kurtis may or may not have empire waists, which can make you look taller and slimmer. Either way, the outfit has a slimming effect because of the (ideally) snug fit of the kurti above the flares, and the body hugging leggings. Kurtis in bandhini (tie and dye) prints and block prints in metallic colors are doing the rounds. Team them up with chunky large-sized bangles in metallic colors, and be assured, you are all set to flaunt your fashionable look this season.
