Etihad Etisalat (Mobily) announced the new price reductions on two models of Blackberry handsets, which are available in all outlets around the Kingdom; the price reduction covers the two models, BlackBerry Bold 9000 and BlackBerry Curve 8900. Both devices support the BIS service which customer could activate at any time. The new prices will be available to consumers starting from Thursday. The BlackBerry Bold 9000 will be introduced with a new competitive price of SR2,575 instead of the origin price which is SR2,800, while the BlackBerry Curve 8900 will be SR1,975 instead of SR2,299. The new prices of the BlackBerry devices will contribute in facilitating it's acquisition especially for individuals who needs to communicate all day long with their friends over chat applications like (BlackBerry messenger, Windows Live messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, Google talk) and up to 10 email accounts could be installed including (Microsoft outlook, MSN, AOL mail, windows live, POP3, IMAP4, Hotmail, Gmail, and Yahoo email) with an optional BlackBerry email. Furthermore, a variety of social media and networking software clients are available to allow BlackBerry users to have instant updates from their face book and Twitter accounts. To widen the circle of BlackBerry owners, BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) is available to prepaid customers as well as post paid customers, this package comes along with 300 megabyte of national traffic which can be used for email, chatting and internet browsing and the cost of this package is SR99 per month. To make it easy for all of Mobily customers to join BIS, an SMS activation method is available by sending “BIS” to 1100, or contacting the customer care by dialling 056-010-1100. Consequently, an SMS delivers to the user confirming the activation so he can enjoy the BlackBerry range of services starting from setting up the email account and chatting with friends and family. Both handsets have a variety of features including a high quality compact camera, variety of themes, a high level of security allowing users to serf and browse the net safely. Mobily launched the BlackBerry devices in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during 2006 to corporate segment using BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Service) and then in early 2007 BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) offered to consumer post paid segment. Recently, in June2009, Mobily introduced BIS for its prepaid subscribers, becoming the first operator in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to offer such service for prepaid segment.
