Coast Guard rescued a cargo ship carrying more than half a million tons of rice from facing the fate of the Titanic, as it ran aground on coral reef off Jeddah Islamic Port on Saturday. Nobody was reportedly injured or missing as of press time. Initial reports suggested that the Jumana ship might have veered off course, causing its lower part to hit a huge coral reef. When the Coast Guard received a call of help from the ship, they responded immediately with dispatching fully- equipped rescue teams. As the ship was starting to take on water, the rescue teams managed to save it from falling about 3,000 feet to the sea floor – deep enough to stack Burj Dubai and its antenna. The rice cargo was safely loaded on a rescue ship saving millions of riyals. An investigation into the accident has started.
