Shopping centers, supermarkets, hypermarkets and small stores in the Eastern Province are all geared up to welcome Ramadan shoppers and have opened separate counters and sections with essential foodstuff usually used in the holy month of fasting. Shops are displaying huge stocks of items that are in high demand during Ramadan. These include various types of dates, sambosa wraps, spring roll wraps, dried apricots, oats, juices, and syrups which are used during the time of breaking the fast. Also on display are various types of nuts, dried grapes, china grass, dairy products and macaroni that people buy in bulk for the month. Most shopping centers are well decorated with “Welcome Ramadan” signs and special lighting arrangements in order to attract customers.
