This week witnessed the conclusion of the annual “With AlBaik you are the House Hero” program of training courses in which over 530 students participated, comprising 250 boys and 150 girls in Jeddah and 150 boys in Makkah all keen to benefit from their summer vacation by learning practical skills that will be of assistance to their families and help their personal development into socially responsible citizens. The finale event hosted at the Vocational Industrial Institute in Jeddah witnessed a massive turnout of students, parents, teachers, program supervisors, trainers and all program supporters. The finale event graduation ceremony was attended by Eng. Rami Abu Ghazaleh CEO of AlBaik Food Systems, the head of the Vocational Industrial Institute in Jeddah Misfer Abdullah Al Badran, General Dakheel Al Sulaimi from the Civil Defense and Mohamed Thabet Al Sadda from the Saudi Red Crescent Society. The event was presented by one of the program students Abdullah Ghulman who took the audience on an overview of the program, its achievements and the series of events witnessed that night. During the graduation ceremony a film showcasing the training program and event flow was featured followed by a skit presented by the students on the learning they received during the training session and how they can implement it in their daily lives. After the speeches given by the program sponsors and the participating institutes the plaques and participation certificates were distributed to all those involved ending with the distribution of the certificates to the students. Since its inception seven years ago the “With AlBaik You Are the House Hero” program is viewed as a major summer event hosted for the benefit of the youth aiming to provide them with useful practical skills that complement their academic education; developing confidence and self esteem that will benefit them both at home and in their future careers. Lasting for a period of four weeks, the program consists of a series of instructional courses which teach useful and practical skills that the students can apply in their homes, schools and future workplaces. The training courses for boys aged between 12 - 18 years included: Introduction to Workshop Basics; Car Maintenance; Electrical Basics and Safety; First Aid Procedures; Fire Safety and Prevention; and House Maintenance and Painting.
