Voluminous output of the entire team, with Jay Perez topping the board, placed Sky Freight in control of its match against Gulf Oil that resulted in a record-setting team hi-series with handicap of 3,611 at the end of the 8th session of the Filipino Expatriate Damayan Bowling Group Friday Morning Bowling League 8th conference at the Bowling City here.
Sky Freight started blasting its opponent with thrust of 1,123 scratch and eclipsed Gulf Oil on handicapped game opener of 1,258 on the prime forwarding of Bobby Baraquel at 218. He was backed by Rey del Rosario's 217, Ray Thompson's 213, Perez's 209, TC Voi Ycong's 175 and Bheng Baraquel's 226. With an average scratch of 993 with only Thompson reaching 200, Sky Freight was set back by the 1,044 of Gulf Oil with Jett Santos leading with 234 primarily helped by Rolly Vistal with 227. Other forwarder studs tried augmenting Thompson but Gulf Oil TC Marlon Heredia, Johnny Macalintal, Alex Mallari and Cherry Heredia planked Santos and Vistal with 205, 183, 165 and 199 respectively for 1,213-1,128 retaliation. With their cards even, both teams struggled on the last set, but once again, the more experienced Sky Freight squad with Bobby clipping 219, toppled down Gulf Oil at 1,225-1,097 for 16-4 (3,612-3,318) settlement.
Rated A player Jay Perez was crowned lady Bowler of the Week on her total handicap output of 628. Perez filed games of 209, 195 and 224 in leading Sky Freight, while Santos top-scored Gulf Oil with 619.
L.J. Laderas emerged as the male Bowler of the Week with his 713 tpf when he led Jem Strikers past JBS 300 & US in a lopsided match. Youthful Laderas topped his team with games of 209, 235 and 269 inspiring Jeff San Pedro, Archie Santos, Michelle San Pedro, Faisal Relativo and TC Efren San Pedro for respective support of 549, 585, 550, 593 and 530. Such solid team work led to a 20-0 trash of their rival on sets of 1,115-1,093, 1,211-1,094, 1,184-1,167 for final submission of 3,510-3,354. JBS 300 & US skipper Emil Payongayong and Obie Ycasas tried to enliven teammates with their 204 and 229 but the shares of Arnold Biblanias, Lourdes Punzalan, Fuly Tabio and Rudy Jamon turned out insufficient to avoid empty purse.
Perfect Breakers also made news when TC Ed Cordova, Sol Cuenca and Serge Rivera who combined for 1,977 outscored Amro Al-Amri, Jay Bengco and Edna Domingo who coalesced 1906 for Lucky Strikes. Support squad Vic Bantay, Lito Magpanay and Eva Garcia was out-played by Toto Lim, Rico Nery and Vangie Lim at 1,625-1,609 but this did not change the overall outcome signed at 3,586-3,531 on Perfect Breakers advantage for an 11-9 card.
Jet Loggers also edged defending champion Luvenor IV at 11-9 (3,477-3,457) with Alona Antinero besting the winner at 627 supported by Rudy Carillo at 615.
