Pakistan International School in Jeddah (English Section) is organizing a function Aug. 13 to celebrate Pakistan's 62nd Independence Day. The function will be held at school's Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Memorial Hall. Famous Pakistani artists Moeen Akhtar, Faisal Qazi, Ammar Ali Khan, Naved Jimmy and Sajjad Ali will perform on this auspicious occasion, school's principal Mrs. Sehar Kamran told a news briefing Friday. Umer Khan Ali Sherzai, Ambassador of Pakistan to the Kingdom, will preside over the function which is to be attended by a number of parliamentarians, diplomats and dignitaries. Sehar Kamran said the objective of this program is to project the significance of the day and provide a platform to expatriate Pakistani community to celebrate the day with zeal, zest, enthusiasm and true patriotic sprit. “Unity, faith and discipline are the theme of the day and we wish to provide an environment that reflects the image of a prestigious nation,” she said. PISJ-ES reflects true colors of Pakistan and inculcates the profound spirit of being a Pakistani in the students, she said. Top ranking students of the school who passed the IGCSE examination 2009 held by Cambridge University will also receive awards in the function. The program will start at 9:35 P.M. All guests are required to take their seats before 9:00 P.M. (Prayer arrangements have been made at the school). Entry is strictly by invitation and only families will be allowed. The program will be in accordance with the Saudi rules and regulations. Mrs. Kamran hoped that the Independence Day would be observed in a remarkable manner, and the community members would cooperate and demonstrate their love for Pakistan and extend all possible support in the rehabilitation of displaced persons from Swat and Buner.
