The price of wholesale flour for home use has been reduced by up to 40 percent, the Grain Silos and Flour Mills Organization (GSFMO) has said, as authorities increase stock ahead of Ramadan. An official at the GSFMO said the 40 percent reduction applied to cartons containing packets of 25, while a carton of 20 two-kg-packs was down to SR14 from SR27. Premium 20 one-kg packs have gone down from SR20 to SR12 and a carton of four five-kg packs was now SR16, down by SR10. The price of brown grain flour carton of 20 one-kg packs has been reduced from SR40 to SR20, and a carton of four five-kg pack is down to SR16 from SR26. GSFMO director Waleed Al-Khuraiji said earlier that three shipments totaling 172.5 tons of imported wheat were expected to arrive at Jeddah Islamic Port this week as the organization increases the supply of flour for Ramadan. Al-Khuraiji said the GSFMO had purchased a third shipment of imported wheat of 440,000 tons. Another GSFMO official said that flour stocks currently amounted to over 700,000 bags and that the supply was meeting local market needs.
