In front of thousands of people gathered Saturday at the City Mall, Nahr El Mott, in Beirut, to watch one of the most exciting drifting shows, Garo Haroutiounian on his BMW M3 won the “King of Drift” title. He won the “Red Bull Car Park Drift” event last Saturday for the second time in a row. The event was held in the lower parking lot of the mall in collaboration with the Automobile and Tourism Club of Lebanon (ATCL). Saturday evening was not ordinary for the City Mall visitors, mainly motor sports lovers who had gathered from all over the Lebanese regions to watch this special event. The qualifications were held in several Lebanese districts. The 20 drivers, including former champion Paul Kosseify, kicked off the action at 8 P.M. A jury including Mrs Siham Tueni, Rally champion Jean Pierre Nasrallah and Elie Antipas, karting champion Chant Atimezian, and Gaby Kreiker from ATCL, judged the drivers, taking into consideration the art of drifting. In the two-wheel category Garo Haroutiounian finished first. He was followed by Michel Feghali and Xavier Massaad. In the 4-wheel category Malek Rizkallah was the winner in Mitsubishi Evo 9. Saad Keyrouz was second in Mitsubishi Evo 10 and Michel Abou Chakra third in his Mitsubishi Evo 9. The prizes were distributed among the winners in a highly joyous atmosphere. They also expressed their wish to participate in similar exciting events again.
