France's Marion Bartoli upset Venus Williams 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 in the championship match of the WTA Bank of the West Classic on Sunday. Venus, making her first appearance at the event since 2005, reached her seventh final in eight appearances at Stanford. She's won two titles but none since 2002. The eighth-seeded Bartoli, who lost in last year's final, played a superb match Sunday against the second-seeded Venus. The win will likely move Bartoli up two places to 12th when the next rankings are released. Davydenko wins Croatia Top-seeded Nikolay Davydenko routed former No. 1 Juan Carlos Ferrero 6-3, 6-0 Sunday to win the Croatia Open and claim back-to-back titles after having captured the German Open. The Russian has now won 16 career titles. He had returned to playing in Hamburg last week after missing nearly four months due to injuries. Dushevina ends title wait In Istanbul, Russian fifth seed Vera Dushevina won the $220,000 WTA Istanbul tournament on Sunday, beating eighth-seeded Czech Lucie Hradecka 6-0, 6-1 in just 41 minutes to capture her first career title. Making short work of her opponent, the 22-year-old Russian dominated the court, winning the opening set 6-0 in just 16 minutes as the Czech player fell prey to a string of double faults. In the second set, Hradecka, who had played two matches on Saturday, managed to win a game to make it 1-1, but Dushevina surged through to win the next five games. Querrey stuns Haas Sam Querrey reached his third consecutive ATP final by upsetting top-seeded German Tommy Haas 6-3, 7-5 at the LA Open on Saturday. Querrey will meet qualifier Carsten Ball in Sunday's final, the little-known Australian continuing his fairytale run in Los Angeles with a 7-5, 7-6 win against Argentina's Leonardo Mayer. Haas was broken in the eighth game of his evening semi-final when the German hit a backhand long off a Querrey net cord and the American coolly served out in the ninth to take the opening set. The second set went with serve until the eighth game when Haas squandered two break points and promptly hurled his racket to the ground in disgust. Although Querrey failed to capitalize on three break points in the ninth game, he broke in the 11th when Haas dumped a forehand volley into the net after being in control of the rally. Serving for the match at 6-5, Querrey trailed 0-40 before coming back to clinch victory when Haas struck a backhand into the net.
