I have a small book that I always keep in my pocket. In it are written invocations and supplications. When I enter the washroom to make ablution or to relieve myself, I take this book with me. Is this allowed? A – It's better not to take something that has statements of remembrance written on it to where one relieves himself. It is disliked by a group of the people of knowledge if it is possible to avoid taking it there. When it is not possible to leave it outside the washroom, then there is no harm on you, and it is not considered disliked. – Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bin Baz; Fatawa Islamiyah, vol. 8, pg. 365 Throwing leftover food Q- What is the ruling on throwing leftover food remnants that can not be benefited from, such as bones? A – There is no problem with throwing spoiled food that cannot be eaten in the trash. As for good food, which may be eaten, even if by animals or birds, then it is not permissible to throw it in the trash, because food has a high regard, (especially when) it can be benefited from. Throwing it in the trash is to show disregard to it and waste it. So if those leftovers can be benefited from then it is not permissible throw it in the trash. If it cannot be benefited from i.e. it is spoiled, then throwing it is not wrong. – Sheikh Saleh Al-Fawzan; Al-Liqaa Al-Maftooh, no. 21 Reciting aloud in mosque Q- Is the recitation of Surah Yasin with a raised voice in the masjid permissible? A – It is not permissible for anyone to raise his voice while reciting the Qur'an in the masjid, whether that is Surah Yasin or any other part of the Qur'an, in prayer or outside prayer. (This is) due to what is established from the Prophet (peace be upon him). He told people who were praying and reciting out aloud: “O people! Each one of you is speaking in private to his Lord so let not some of you speak loudly over others in recitation.” And because this is also causes disturbance to others (in the masjid). – The Permanent Committee for Islamic Research and Verdicts; vol. 4, pg. 39, Fatwa no. 2584 __
