What is the ruling regarding suicide in Islam? A – Suicide is when a person kills himself intentionally by whatever means. This is Haraam and regarded as amongst the major sins, and likewise included in the general statement of Allah: “And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell to abide therein, and the Wrath and the Curse of Allah are upon him, and a great punishment is prepared for him.” (Qur'an, 4:93) And it is established from the Sunnah on the authority of the Prophet (peace be upon him) who said: “Indeed, whoever (intentionally) kills himself, then certainly he will be punished in the Fire of Hell.” (Al-Bukhari, no. 5778 and Muslim, no. 109 and 110) In reality, the one who commits suicide, generally does so because of his desperate situation, either as a direct result of an act of Allah or a human being. So you find him unable to cope with that which has afflicted him, and in fact he is like one who is calling for help from the scorching heat of the fire. So he has progressed from what was tough (bad) to something worse. If he was patient, then Allah would have assisted him in dealing with the difficulty. – Sheikh Muhammad Bin Saleh Al-Uthaymeen; Kayfa Nu'alij Waqi'una Al-Aleem, pg. 120Zakah on diamonds Q- Is there any Zakah on Diamonds that are used for beautification and wearing? A – There is no Zakah on Diamonds that are for beautification and wearing. However, if the diamonds are for buisness (i.e., buying and selling), Az-Zakah must be paid on them. The same applies to pearls. With reference to gold and silver, Zakah must be paid on them if they reach the minimum amount required, even if they are only for wearing, according to the most correct opinion of the scholars. – Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bin Baz; Fatawa Islamiyah, vol. 3, pg. no. 181 __
