Syrian actor Duraid Lahham has toured a Gaza neighborhood flattened in Israel's winter war on Hamas and has assailed Israel and the international community. Israel waged a military offensive on Gaza's Hamas rulers to halt years of rocket fire on Israeli border towns from Gaza. More than a thousand Gazans were killed, along with 13 Israelis. Human rights groups say both Israel and Hamas violated rules of war, a charge both deny. Lahham on Saturday toured a Gaza neighborhood leveled by Israel in the war. He denounced Israeli leaders as a “criminal gang” and said he is “shocked that the international community that calls for freedom and human rights, how it's silent over this crime.” Lahham, 75, is popular across the Arab world.
