ranked Dinara Safina won her 12th WTA tournament on Sunday, rallying to beat defending champion Sara Errani of Italy 6-7 (5), 6-1, 7-5 at the Slovenia Open. It was the first loss at the tournament for the fifth-seeded Errani, who drops to 9-1. Safina lost to Venus Williams in the Wimbledon semifinals in June. Davydenko wins in Germany Russian Nikolay Davydenko clinched his first title of the season on Sunday when he beat Frenchman Paul-Henri Mathieu 6-4, 6-2 to win the German Open. Second seed and world number 12 Davydenko dropped only one set on his way to the title. Ginepri wins Indianapolis Robby Ginepri, who was laid low by a burst appendix earlier this year, won his second Indianapolis title on Sunday with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over third seeded compatriot Sam Querrey. The 62-minute win repeated the triumph which Ginepri enjoyed four years ago and was the third overall of his career. Ginepri, who spent nine days in hospital earlier this year to undergo appendix surgery, had not reached a semifinal before this week since Las Vegas in March, 2008. Querrey has now lost in finals in his last two events after going down a fortnight ago on grass in Newport to Rajeev Ram. Ginepri out-aced the usually big-hitting Querrey, firing four aces and 13 winners while Querrey dropped nine costly double faults.
