King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM) has announced that 3,500 students have been admitted to enter the university as freshmen starting this academic year. Dr. Khaled Al-Sultan, president of the university, in announcing the entry of the new students, said they were selected and admitted under the highest criteria of admittance, including a general average of not less than 83 percent comprising of 20 percent for the secondary school certificate, 30 percent for the general capabilities test, and 50 percent for collective test performances. He said KFUPM is the first university in the Kingdom to have announced the admission results for the academic year 1430-31 Hijra, making the announcement some five days prior to the deadline. Dr. Al-Sultan said the university aims to attract only outstanding students, and mentoring them to succeed and excel in their programs of study and research. “KFUPM provides strong educational programs, experiential learning, consistently growing possibilities in scientific research, and an outstanding faculty noted for their educational and research accomplishments,” Al-Sultan said. He said that KFUPM adheres to the international quality levels adopted by reputed universities worldwide, such as maintaining close ratios of faculty and students as well as appropriate facilities to ensure an ideal educational environment. The accepted students, in addition to their pre-qualification admittance, are required to submit the following documents, in original forms, personally to the Admissions Office (Building #10) from July 27-29 in Dhahran, or in Riyadh at Prince Sultan University; or in Jeddah at Dar Al-Fikr Schools: Secondary school certificate, I.D. and a photocopy, certificate of good behavior and conduct and five recent photos with a white background. For those who cannot personally appear, they can send the required original documents via the Saudi Post's express courier service Mumtaz addressed to Dr. Omar Abdullah Al-Swailem, Dean of Admission and Registration.
