The Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mazin Baterji, inaugurated on Tuesday the six-day Saudi Exhibition for Computing, Internet, Office Equipment, Business Communications and Mobiles (COMMTEL 2008). Hussien Bin Ali Al-Harthi, vice chairman of the Al-Wataniyyah Exhibitions, said investments in the information technology sector in the Kingdom exceeded SR20 billion and expected to increase in the few coming years to SR68 billion. The COMMTEL show is a place for businessmen and decision makers to gather and make deals that fulfill the needs of business, computer and software markets and also plays a role in showing the advancement in computerizing international commercial transactions. The exhibition this year witnesses a strong competition among communications companies with the latest breakthroughs in the sector on display, ranging from electronics, information technology, advisory services to satellite, telecommunications and internet. Office equipment companies and computer companies like Panasonic, Toshiba, HP, Acer and Sharp participate in the exhibition offering the latest laptops, printers, scanners and pocket PCs. Mahmood Ahmad, a salesman, said he participated in the exhibition for the first time and thought it was the best so far in the Kingdom. He added that the exhibition will witness more attendance in the next days as it offers competitive prices. Osama Al-Atiyah, a salesman at the National Computer Company said the company exhibits the latest security systems for the Saudi consumers. He said Saudi market is a developed one with the latest technology products. __
