Camilo Villegas played the final six holes in 6 under to join Kevin Na atop the leaderboard at the completing of the rain-delayed first round of the Canadian Open on Friday. The Colombian hit to an inch to set up a birdie on the 152-yard 15th and holed a 15-foot eagle chip on the par-5 18th. Ninety-eight players were unable to finish on Thursday, and 39 of them didn't even begin play until Friday. Na birdied the final five holes and nine of the last 12 for a 9-under 63 that he just managed to finish late Thursday. The horn signaling the suspension on Thursday sounded at 8:46 P.M., with players having the option to finish a hole they started. Na was fast to tee off on No. 9, making sure he didn't have to return early Friday to play one hole. Scott Verplank, Retief Goosen, Joe Durant and Friday finishers Jerry Kelly, Peter Tomasulo and Martin Laird opened with 65s. Mike Weir opened with a 70. Gonzalez in front In Sweden, Argentina's Ricardo Gonzalez made up for failing to qualify for last week's Open with a second successive 68 to take a one shot lead at the halfway stage of the Swedish Masters here on Friday. Gonzalez, back after a week working on his ranch back home near Buenos Aires after failing to make it to Turnberry, heads the field at the imposing 7,665-yard Barseback course from England's Lee Slattery. Slattery, the overnight leader, added a 70 to his sparkling first round 67 to fill second, one shot behind Gonzalez. Joint third on six under, four behind Gonzalez, are Scotland's former US Amateur champion Richie Ramsay and Swede Martin Erlandsson. Henrik Stenson had a closing birdie to thank to avoid missing the cut. Three share lead In France, Ai Miyazato of Japan shot a 6-under 66 to share the second-round lead at the Evian Masters. Miyazato shares the lead at 9-under 135 with joint first-round leader Na Yeon Choi of South Korea (68) and Becky Brewerton of Wales, who bogeyed the 16th and 17th to shoot 68. In-Kyung Kim of South Korea, joint first-round leader, is a shot back in fourth spot. Despite a double bogey on the fourth, Michelle Wie hit five birdies in a round of 70 to put her at 1 under and still in with a chance of gaining points for a place on the US Solheim Cup team for next month's matchup against Europe. Brewerton is vying for a place on Europe's team after her rookie appearance two years ago.
