The Court of Appeal in Riyadh has upheld an Asir Board of Grievances ruling obliging the Ministry of Interior's Al-Mujahideen department to pay SR3,000 in compensation for conducting an armed raid and arrest without authorization. Jabir Muhammad Al-Faifi sued the department for performing a 12-hour search at his house in Al-Aarda in 2004 and arresting him without a warrant, and had appealed the original ruling saying that the compensation offered did not reflect the damage caused. Meanwhile, the Shariah Medical Committee of the General Court in Jeddah ruled that a doctor pay blood money to a patient who had a toe amputated after contracting gangrene. – Okaz/SG – With report from Adnan Al
