A large audience of Urdu lovers from the subcontinent enjoyed a grand Mushaira (poetic evening) here at the weekend. Renowned poets from Jubail, Dammam, Al-Khobar and Riyadh recited their poetry at the Mushaira organized by Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys Association, Shamim Jaypuri Memorial Society and Halqaye Ahbab Zoque Al-Jubail. Mrs. Farhat Parween, well-known storywriter who is also renowned for her poetic skills, was the chief guest at the Mushaira. In her speech, she said Urdu was playing a vital role in bringing the Indian and Pakistani communities closer to each other. Organization of such events, she said, not only helps in preserving the rich culture of the subcontinent but also takes it to new heights. Dr. Wajahat Farooqui welcomed the honorable guests and poets. Nayeem Jawed conducted the entire program and entertained the audience with his classic jokes and comments.
